An introduction.
Ei:gentum is a collection of 333 artworks made with love by three friends from Germany.
We didn’t like the fact that there were no artists behind many of the projects existing. There were countless projects that simply copied existing works, were simple knock offs and — for our taste — offered no aesthetic, no real art.
I’ts more about building a money machine than it is about spreading art.
The majority of collections appearing are all solely all about short hype, were unaffordable, had blown up marketing, unrealistic roadmaps, useless use cases, often false numbers and in the end it seemed that putting out these collections had one single goal and that is to make a quick buck and leaving afterwards.
We wanted to change that.
So we spent last year with creating about 400 pieces of art, and we went for the shape of eggs.
Designing these eggs was an extensive process. It included:
- Researching fascinating surfaces and structures
- Photograph these structures with our photo equipment and map them onto the egg.
- Shaping and modelling each individual egg.
- Applying our own color theory and fine-tuning every color set we used.
- Proper placement of light and use of shadows
- and discussing, discussing, discussing, how to improve every single one of it.
It resulted in the creation of ca. 400 artworks.
Then, in several rounds of selection, we were able to limit these more than 400 works of art to 333 pieces, according to our criteria and likening.
Not one egg is like another. Every one is peerless.
Ei:gentum was born.
Another special characteristic of your collection, besides the uniqueness of each egg, are the 10 blank eggs we created. If you own this egg, you can contact us, and we will personalize an artwork according to your wishes and specifications.

By owning a blank egg, you are able to create your own artwork and realize your egg dream.

(The Ocean Cleanup is a project by Dutchman Boyan Slat, born in 1994, with the goal of collecting plastic waste in the oceans.)
